Navigate City Transit

With its enhanced pedestrian navigation capabilities, nüvi 1200 is the perfect travel companion for getting around town. Download optional cityXplorer™ content to help you navigate city public transit. Know where to walk, where to catch the bus, subway, tram or other transportation and how long it will take to get there. cityXplorer maps are available for select cities throughout North America and Europe.

Twenty-five percent slimmer than other nüvis, you can take the ultra-thin 1200 anywhere. It easily fits in your pocket or purse, and its rechargeable lithium-ion battery makes it convenient for navigation by car or foot.

Get Turn-by-Turn Directions

nüvi 1200's intuitive interface greets you with two simple questions: "Where To?" and "View Map." Touch the color screen to easily look up addresses and services and get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions that speak street names to your destination. It comes preloaded with City Navigator® NT street maps for the continental U.S., Hawaii and Puerto Rico, millions of points of interest (POIs) and 2-D or 3-D maps. Its digital elevation maps show you shaded contours at higher zoom levels, giving you a big picture of the surrounding terrain. With the 1200's enhanced user interface, you can slide your finger to conveniently scroll between screens. You can also upload custom points of interest (POIs). And with HotFix™ satellite prediction, nüvi calculates your position faster to get you there quicker.

Go Beyond Navigation

Navigation is just the beginning. nüvi 1200 includes many travel tools including JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, calculator and more. With photo navigation, you can download pictures from Garmin Connect™ Photos and navigate to them. It's also compatible with lifetime traffic alerts or MSN® Direct (receiver purchase required for either option). With its "Where Am I?" emergency locator, you always know your location. Simply tap the screen to get your exact latitude and longitude coordinates, the nearest address and intersection, and the closest hospitals, police stations and fuel stations. The 1200 features Garmin Lock™, an anti-theft feature, and is compatible with our free Garmin Garage where you can download custom custom voices and vehicles. Enhance your travel experience with optional plug-in microSD™ cards.

Save Money, Reduce Emissions:
With ecoRoute on your nüvi, you can save money on fuel costs by finding more fuel-efficient routes. These routes are selected by factoring in your vehicles fuel consumption, the number of stops, speed limits, and more. ecoRoute also gives you real-time feedback on the efficiency of your driving. Whether it’s a slower start from a standstill or maintaining an efficient speed, you’ll know what driving techniques help you save gas and money.
The ecoRoute Route Preview will even give you an estimate of the fuel cost and efficiency of your route before you leave!

Track your progress:
The ecoRoute Fuel Report automatically calculates details about your travel time and fuel usage. You’ll see time and distance traveled as well as the cost of fuel used and average fuel economy. Perfect for keeping tabs on your travels and expenses, it’s virtually everything you need to track your ongoing fuel consumption.
ecoRoute Mileage Reports give fuel economy data on individual trips, data that can be used to plan future trips as well as keeping track of distance for company mileage reimbursements.

Challenge yourself!
See just how efficient you drive with ecoRoute’s Driving Challenge. This fun-yet-effective challenge makes a game out of saving gas with your nüvi by keeping a running score that reflects your current driving habits. You’ll get real-time feedback based on your performance and you’ll quickly see the results of your actions. Like to accelerate quickly and jam on the brakes at the last moment? Then prepare yourself for a lower score and higher fuel bill. The better you drive, the higher your score. The ecoRoute Driving Challenge also saves your top three scores so you can keep track of your progress. Saving fuel has never been so much fun.
